stage monitors
For a concert ( singers and full band) should i use passive or active monitors for the stage?
i am a mobile dj who is looking to expand his business and equipment by offering small scale stage sound for concerts, fashion shows, etc. each venue of about 1000-2500 people. i already have 4 mackie srm 350 active speakers and was wondering if i should use those as stage monitors, or invest in passive monitors and amplifiers? i have a little money saved up from my mobile dj business so if i have spend more money for a better sound, thats an investment i am willing to take
I’m not sure what “active” and “passive” are, but it sounds like you’re talking about powered or non-powered. Powered is simple to hook up, because the amp is built-in. There’s no need to think about what amp is appropriate for what speaker. However, they’re forever married. If something goes wrong with either the amp or the speaker, the whole thing has to go in the shop. If you decide you like the speaker, but not the amp, you can’t change one or the other.
Since you’re a DJ, you may have situations where you need to shuffle power or speakers to different configurations. For that reason, I’d reccommend having each be their own thing. If one amp on your DJ rig has problems, you can pull an amp from your rental system, if it’s not going out that night, etc.

Baby Monitors : Helping Parents Multitask
The coming of a small bundle of joy fills the lives of the new parents with a lot of happiness and excitement coupled with so many new responsibilities. At that tender stage the baby needs all the attention as his behaviour is extremely unpredictable. Parents have to constantly keep a watchful eye and trust their instincts to guess what the baby needs at what time. Baby monitors are the technological wonders that helps the parents in balancing their responsibilities for the baby and for their household.
The fact is that though the child is the most important aspect of his parent’s life, there are other aspects and responsibilities in their lives too that cannot be ignored. The major area that may require equal attention is managing and running their house and finances as smoothly as before. Though parents and other family members may take turns at keeping a watchful eye on the baby, but still there are times when the child requires only his mother by his side. There are times when the mother is unable to hear her baby crying inspite of being in the next room. In case the mother does not come to know of the child’s need for her at that moment (probably because of being involved in other household chores), then baby monitors are the perfect solution to this problem.
A baby monitors is a device consisting of a transmitter and a receiver. The transmitter is placed near the baby while the mother carries the receiver with her at all times when she is away from the baby. These monitors are available in models that are only audio as well as that are audio visual in nature. Both the transmitter and the receiver are portable and light weight devices and are easy to carry anywhere around the house, and even to the nearby market at times depending upon the frequency range of the baby monitor. The moment the baby wakes up or cries the mother will immediately come to know and rush to attend to her child’s needs.
Baby monitors are the perfect device that help parents, especially mothers in multitasking, i.e. taking care of the baby and attend to other tasks as well. This way neither their parenting duties nor their other responsibilities suffer.
